NI Assembly Member Judges How Green Our Garden Grows

NI Assembly Member Judges How Green Our Garden Grows
Our vegetable garden got a good going over yesterday afternoon when Northern Ireland's oldest serving MLA and Father of the House, Mr Sam Gardiner and a panel of judges visited our school as part of his annual competition to encourage our little learners to get growing their own vegetables. Although our vegetable plots have now past their best Mr. Gardiner got an idea of the rich variety of vegetables and flowers we have grown this season. Vegetables planted this year included potatoes (3 different varieties), carrots, beetroot, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflowers and a varied salad crop were planted in our class beds along with an equally large variety of herbs and flowers. Mr. Gardiner spoke highly of our children's efforts and got to sit in our own Speakers Chair in our literacy garden. Wisely Mr Gardiner wasn't tempted to tell us any stories of life in the NI Assembly in case it gave us nightmares !!!
